Background of the Awards

ISTER International Best Practices (IBP) Awards is a competition organised by the EU financed project ISTER  (ConnectIng hiSTorical Danube rEgions Roman routes).

The Project demonstrates innovative and inclusive approaches to the connection between Roman heritage resources and local/regional productive sectors. It emphasises also on the visualisation and attractiveness dimensions of the promotion and awareness raising of the Roman heritage resources as drivers for regional development.

 

Purpose of the Awards

ISTER IBP Awards aim to recognise the excellence and support the best practices of the innovative projects and initiatives for protection, preservation, management, valorisation and sustainable use of cultural heritage related to the Roman legacy.

The winners from all categories:

  • will be invited to the ISTER IBP Awards Ceremony in Stuttgart, Germany in February 2022

  • will have the opportunity to present their projects or initiatives during the event

  • will receive a trophy and a certificate

  • will be considered as potential candidates and will be invited to participate as partners in the next ISTER project edition

Who Can Apply

  • National, regional and local public bodies

  • Non-governmental organisations

  • Corporate and private sector companies

  • Academic institutions

  • Media entities

  • Individuals (researchers, professional teams, etc.)

Eligibility Criteria

  • The application in English shall be submitted online no later than 23 December 2021, 23:59:59 CET.

  • The project or initiative, subject of the application, should be either fully implemented or should be in a sufficiently mature state for the jury to assess it.

  • The project or initiative must clearly refer to only one of the three categories and cannot be used in more than one category.

  • The applicant may apply with maximum one project/initiative per category by completing separate online application forms.

  • ISTER IBP Awards are focused outside the ISTER consortium and project partners cannot participate in the competition.

Awards Criteria

  • Innovative character of the project or initiative in the selected award category.

  • Introduction of a positive cultural change.

  • Positive outcomes on sustainable development at either economic, environmental or social level.

  • Demonstration of potential for transferability, adaptability, and replicability, including partnership models.

  • Citizen engagement & involvement.
